Botham Shem Jean was a 26-year-old Saint Lucian, a Harding University graduate, and a Risk Assurance Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas, Texas.
On September 6, 2018, Botham’s life was cut short when he was shot and killed by a neighbor—off-duty Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger—who maintained she entered his apartment believing it to be hers. She said she mistook Botham for a burglar.
On October 2, 2019, Guyger was convicted of murder in a Dallas courtroom and sentenced to 10 years in prison. She will first be eligible for parole in five years.
On this episode, Botham’s mother, Allison Jean, speaks from the heart about her son, his life, his spirit, and his enduring legacy. Allison is the CEO of the National Utilities Regulatory Commission and lives in St. Lucia with her husband, Bertram. She also sits on the board of The Botham Jean Foundation.
Botham is also survived by two siblings, Allisa and Brandt.
